Sleep away camp part 1. Avi starts camp a week from Wed, on July 29th. Why then am I posting part one today? Well Avi may be going to camp next Wed., but his luggage is being picked up today! We had to have him fully packed for camp a feel week and a half before came starts. This was cause for lots of stress yesterday, but I think we were able to get it done. The trucking company charges a whopping $110 for up to two pieces of “normal sized” luggage (two trunks, two duffels, etc). We had one 40″ round duffel in the house and I went to the local Army Navy store and purchased a 42″ square duffel. I started packing up the new duffel and lo and behold, it fit everything in the one duffel! It is quite huge and it still has more space! For the next few years, we will probably get away with sending just this one duffel. Of course the by product is that the duffel is VERY heavy, but I am guessing that the trucking people are good and lifting. I just hope it all arrives safely.
The next thing for camp, and one that Avi has been asking for constantly is an MP3 player. Marsha and I decided that we would get him an inexpensive MP3 player so he can listen on the bus and he can have it to go to and from school next year, since that trip will be about 30 minutes each way. I found a cheap one on staples.com and ordered it and lo and behold, they sent two! So Noam is going to have his own MP3 player as well. They are 1 GB players and you don’t have a lot of control. They just basically play the music in order. I think that will be fine for Avi.
Now we just have to get through the next week and a half!
